That proverb captures exactly how I feel about Bitcoin as a small-time investor.  It has emerged and matured during my lifetime and if I'd had the presence of mind and initiative to make my first investment a few years ago, I could be retired by now and sipping cocktails on a caribbean beach.

Alas, I didn't, and I'm not. But in January 2021 I finally broke free from the inertia and decided to overcome the fear of the unknown. I figured out how to invest safely and securely in Bitcoin for the first time. If I'd known how simple it could be, I'd have done it sooner, but the fear of getting started (and the fear of falling for a scam along the way) prevented me from taking action.

Since then I've gone on to research Bitcoin and other aspects of blockchain technology, and have continued to invest regularly in Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.

I'm not sure that it will ever lead to life-changing riches, nor am I investing more than I could stand to lose, but I'm certain that Bitcoin has a long-term future and I'll continue to grow my holding in the years to come, if only as an insurance policy against getting left further behind than I am already from those who staked a few dollars in 2009 and the early years of Bitcoin.
